Meet Egle Tamm and Elli at Incap Estonia
Allow us to introduce you to a valued member of our team at Incap Estonia: Egle Tamm, who serves as our Office Manager and Accountant. She is also the proud owner of Elli, who has become our Chief Happiness Officer.
Egle’s journey into accounting is an intriguing one, marked by unexpected turns and a touch of fate. Although she studied environmental protection and completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, her career path took a different direction.
After university, Egle lived and worked in Tallinn, focusing on cartography—a fascinating and well-paid job. However, being a native of Saaremaa, she longed to return home. One day, a business acquaintance offered her a job in Saaremaa, but there was a catch: the job was in accounting, a field in which she had no prior experience. Driven by her desire to return home, Egle courageously accepted the challenge. With a good mentor and a strong will to learn, she quickly adapted and has now been working as an accountant for over ten years. “A few years ago, I decided to get official certification for my knowledge, so I studied accounting at Kuressaare Regional Training Centre and now hold a Level 5 Accountant Certificate,” she adds.
Egle joined Incap five years ago when she applied for a temporary position covering for an accountant on maternity leave. Due to an increase in workload, she remained with the company even after the other accountant returned. She recalls her boss, Ene, saying after the job interview that she hadn’t had such a fun interview in a long time. Egle jokingly says that this is why Incap kept her—to make jokes and bring some laughter.
Incap has a wonderful tradition of hosting themed summer parties, which have become a fun challenge for Egle each year. “I can’t say I take it too seriously, but I do enjoy putting effort into my look for these events. It brings excitement to my colleagues and hopefully encourages them to step out of their comfort zones,” she says. Egle believes that work life, like life in general, shouldn’t be dry and purely serious. “We spend a lot of our lives at work, and the more enjoyable that time is, the happier we are,” she adds.
Until July of this year, Egle worked primarily as an accountant, handling tasks such as processing purchase invoices and assisting the financial manager with various accounting operations. Recently, to add more variety to her work, her responsibilities were expanded. Since August, she has been working as both an Office Manager and Accountant. As an office manager, she is responsible for ensuring smooth communication, greeting guests, organising events, booking accommodation and tickets, and other administrative tasks.
The aspect she has loved the most about working at Incap from the very beginning is the people—her colleagues. The work environment and atmosphere are very important to her. She has said that she is willing to do less enjoyable work in a great team but couldn’t do enjoyable work in a poor atmosphere. She values the sense of humour shared among the team and the fun company events. “I’ve made friends here who are no longer just colleagues but also good friends,” she adds.
Egle is a very active person and enjoys various activities in her free time. She runs and dances, mainly during the autumn and winter months. In spring and summer, much of her free time is spent gardening, a hobby she loves. She also enjoys simply being in nature, particularly by the sea. Despite being sociable and talkative at work, she often feels the need to go somewhere alone to disconnect from the noise around her. “This is the time when I recharge and reflect on what’s truly important in my life, make plans, and dream,” she says. One of her big dreams is to renovate her ancestors’ home, a process through which she has discovered a love for building and renovation.
She believes that achieving personal goals comes down to believing in oneself and having the will to succeed. “If these two elements are strong enough, there is always a way—where there’s a will, there’s a way,” she says.
Now, she is perhaps best known at Incap as the proud owner of Elli, a ten-month-old flat-coated retriever. Elli joined the Incap team shortly after arriving at her forever home as a young puppy.
“Her joining Incap was linked to changes in my own life, and I’m very happy that she was so warmly welcomed by everyone,” Egle explains. But Elli is more than just a dog accompanying her to work. “She is a part of our team with her own important roles—therapist, brand ambassador, meeting icebreaker, and our very own Chief Happiness Officer. On days when I’m not in the office, the question isn’t so much about where Egle is, but rather, where’s Elli?” she concludes.
