Incap Workshop at European Defence Supply
The European Defence Supply event, organised by Vogel Communications Group AG and taking place on 28–29 April 2026 in Munich, will focus on practical pathways into defence programmes. Alongside the conference, 32 exhibitors will present their solutions at the accompanying exhibition, including EMS specialist Incap. Through keynotes, panel discussions and workshops, representatives from industry, government ministries, consulting and technology sectors will demonstrate how access to European defence programmes can be successfully achieved in practice.
In his workshop, Alexander Ostermeier, Business Development Manager Defence at Incap Electronics Germany, uses the current surge in investment across Europe as an opportunity to challenge common misconceptions — such as the notion that companies can simply “do something in defence” without deeper strategic commitment.
Defence is “not a side business”, Ostermeier emphasises, but requires a dedicated team that fully supports positioning as a supplier within military programmes — spanning sales, engineering, quality assurance and production. Patience is equally critical: several years may pass between initial contact with a government body or prime contractor and the awarding of a contract. Budgets are allocated over extended periods and distributed across multiple suppliers. Success in this environment depends on building long-term partnerships.
Drawing on concrete examples, Ostermeier illustrates how this translates into operational reality: many processes remain semi-automated or entirely manual — an environment in which Incap leverages its extensive expertise in manufacturing complex cable assemblies and harness systems. At the same time, compliance with standards, approvals and certifications — such as VG approvals — as well as high delivery reliability and flexibility are fundamental requirements in the defence sector.
The workshop also places particular emphasis on technology providers and start-ups. While many develop highly innovative products, for example in the fields of drones or sensor technology, they often have limited experience in scalable, series production. In this context, Incap positions itself as an industrialisation partner, optimising designs for manufacturability and, where required, collaborating with manufacturers to develop customised, space- and weight-optimised solutions — as demonstrated in a project with a drone manufacturer, where the entire connector concept was fundamentally redesigned.
A limited allocation of tickets for European Defence Supply is available to Incap customers at preferential rates and can be requested directly via the marketing department: marketing@incapcorp.com.
