Meet the apprentices from Incap UK
At Incap UK, apprenticeships are an important way to bring new talent into the company and provide young people with opportunities to build their careers in engineering. The programme combines studies with practical, hands-on learning in our factory, giving apprentices the chance to earn while they learn and to gain experience across different areas of electronics manufacturing.
This autumn, Incap UK welcomed three new apprentices who are taking their first steps into the world of engineering. All three come from Stoke-on-Trent and share the same curiosity about technology.
Jaden Gilchrist first discovered his passion for engineering at The Discovery Academy, where he joined a Robotics Club that sparked his interest in the field. After spending three years working as a chef, he decided to return to what truly inspired him and applied for the apprenticeship at Incap. For him, the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in PCB assembly and contribute to projects in areas such as medical technologies and military equipment feels like the right next step.
For Ruby Walker, the journey started at school, where she was drawn to the electrical side of engineering. She completed a Level 2 course in Electrical Installation at Stoke-on-Trent College, but felt she wanted to focus on a more industrial role. A week of work experience at Incap confirmed that this was the right environment for her. Now she looks forward to exploring the wide variety of work at the factory, working in a team, and continuing to develop her skills.
Fynn Neighbour took a slightly different route, beginning with GCSEs in subjects like Computer Science and Business, followed by a year of A levels. He believes an apprenticeship is a smart way to build a career – earning while learning, gaining skills directly from professionals, and avoiding student debt. At Incap, he is particularly keen to expand his knowledge of IPC standards and soldering as he works towards his future in engineering.
Outside of work, all three bring their own unique interests. Jaden enjoys painting, building intricate mechanical models, and gaming. Ruby spends much of her free time on art, swimming, and even collecting porcelain dolls. Fynn is a qualified lifeguard and first aider who also enjoys hiking and being out in nature.
Together, Jaden, Ruby, and Fynn are starting their careers with energy and curiosity, and we look forward to seeing how they grow at Incap UK.
